Implants

Dental Implants – the Ideal Solution for Missing Teeth

Replacing missing teeth has always been a difficult problem. A dental implant provides a foundation for replacement teeth that retain the feel and function of natural teeth. They are also used to anchor loose dentures. At DDS we successfully carry out over 1000 implants a year.

Dr Ahsan Saleem, is one of Lahore’s leading cosmetic dentists. He uses and recommends dental implants as they do not require other teeth for support. You can eat virtually anything with an implant and your smile and facial contours are perfectly preserved.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are tiny titanium posts. They are inserted in the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes and are surgically placed into the jawbone. Small posts are then attached to the dental implant which protrudes through the gum. These posts provide stable anchors for the artificial replacement teeth. The bone then bonds with the titanium dental implant creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth (crowns or dentures). The posts are invisible once the replacement teeth are in place. Implants help preserve facial structure preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

A single implant can be used to support a crown replacing a single missing tooth or to support a dental bridge for the replacement of multiple missing teeth. A dental implant is also much easier to clean than a bridge. The teeth that support a bridge are prone to cavities and may fail in just a few years. An implant cannot be affected by cavities Implants are typically placed in a single sitting and most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life. Implants are also ideal for use with existing dentures to increase stability and reduce gum tissue irritation.
